Introducing Upendo: An 11 year old Dutch Warmblood gelding imported to the U.S. out of the elite sire Darco and dam Pequena (sire Concorde). Upendo has successfully competed in Equitation, Hunters, Hunter Derbys and Jumpers. He is currently qualified for the 2012 Onondarka Finals in L.A., having won 2 qualifiers this year. At a recent Woodside, CA show he won the Equitation 11 & Under division, Onondarka Medal, CPHA Child/Adult Medal, and NorCal 3' Junior/Amateur Medal.

Upendo is straightforward, easy to ride, has a great disposition and incredible scope. His stride is easily adjustable and he is very careful over the jumps. We think he is an ideal Junior Medal horse for a competitive junior rider who wants to win on the A circuit.

He is suitable for an advanced rider looking to "step up" or a beginner who needs a horse with a great brain and sweet disposition and who has the ability to "fit in what he is given" and make it look good. He is versatile in all three rings and is currently being ridden by an 11 year old out of Woodside, CA.

Sire Darco background information: Darco, who is inducted with the highest honour of "Ambassador" by the BWP studbook, is also the best sire in the world according to the WBFSH ranking for sporthorses since 2007. No stallion in the world was in the lead of the ranking for so long.   http://www.darco-stallion.com/Engels/Home.htm

Background: A Dutch Warmblood is a warmblood type of horse registered with the Koninklijk Warmbloed Paardenstamboek Nederland (Royal Warmblood Studbook of the Netherlands (KWPN),[1] which governs the breeding of competitive dressage and show jumping horses, as well as the show harness horse and Gelderlander, and a hunter studbook in North America. Developed through a breeding program that began in the 1960s, the Dutch are some of the most successful horses developed in postwar Europe.
