Branscomb Farm horses - where they are in sport

Branscomb Farm has been breeding and training young jumpers and dressage horses at their 74 acre facility on the California coast near San Francisco since 2004.  Managed by Grand Prix rider and young jumper specialist Daniel Zilla, the farm relies exclusively on German Verband approved bloodlines and offers German passports and papers with their USA-bred foals.   Decending from eleven states premium and premium mares imported from Holstein in the 1990’s  the Branscomb broodmares are their strongest asset.  Now in their third generation, Branscomb horses and their decendents are found across the country competing at all levels of jumping as well as hunters, dressage, and eventing.  They are frequent winners in futurities and championships for young horses.  In 2016 alone, three of the final round of the Young Jumper Championship five year old division were Branscomb bred as well as the USEA Champion Future Event Horse Yearling was bred by Dragonfire Farm from a Branscomb bred mare.  The Farm offers their own young sport or breeding prospects 3-6 years of age well started under saddle at prices starting at around $25,000.  The Farm also offers Young Horse Training program including pasture boarding and offering ground training, starting, basic flatwork, and introduction to fences and local shows at a competitive monthly fee.

Where they are in sport

1.       Camelot BF:  2011 approved German Oldenburg Verband stallion by our own Contiano BF from st.pr. Jasnaya (Cristo – Landcapitol-Acord II). 2.       Cupilor B:  This horse wasn’t actually bred by me but I purchased him as a weanling foal from a breeding client. We raised him at Branscomb.  Daniel started him and showed him lightly as a four year old. Michele Parker bought him from us as a four year old for her training and sales program.  He won the six year old championships. He is now showing at the GP level. 

3.       Castifino BF: 2011 approved German Oldeburg Verband stallion by Cassini II out of our U-Katrina BF (Contefino – Condino – Landego Stamm 4).  Raised and started by Daniel until he was four. Owned by the Froelich family and ridden and trained this past year by Susan Artes.

4.       Landia BF:  This mare was bred in Europe and imported as a foal for our breeding program.  John Turner bought her for a client as a conformation hunter. Photo Credit: JumpShot Photography   

5.       Reika B: Also purchased as a foal in Europe for the breeding program. She is the mother of Welcome BF, Velvet BF, and Riviera BF and the grand-dam of Wanda BF and Bonita BF and great grand dam of Bielka BF.   Daniel started her and rode her to small GP level. She produced several foals and was sold to Joyce Green in Florida where she competes in the A/O’s with Joyce.

6.       Clara BF: 2010 mare (Diarado- Acorado-Landgraf) bred by us and started in five year olds by Daniel.  Sold to Veronica Pinchon recently  - trainer is Chrissy Christianson

7.   Welcome BF:  2006 mare – one of the first ones I bred from Reika B – She won the John and Beezie Maddon “Breeders Bridge to High Performance” championship as best young Warmblood bred in  North America as a five year old. Went to New York for free training the year Beezie went to Europe for the London Olympics. Returned to us and showed with Daniel up to 1.30m.  Recently sold to a client of Michael Traurig
