24k Magic
This tall yellow creature is officially for sale. After 5 wonderful years it is time my golden child flies the nest. Just typing that alone
brings tears to my eyes, but it was the plan since day 1 that he would one day be for sale.
It will be a challenge to wrap Merlin up into a few short paragraphs when I truly want to write a novel about him. I'll try...
It all started on a warm sunny day when his danm laid down to birth him ....ok jk...
Merlin is a 17+ hand 6 year old Tb/Westphalian warmblood cross. He was bred by a good friend and I acquired him as a yearling. I intended to bring him along and sell him as a 4 year old, however he kept growing...and growing...and growing so I took my time and brought him along slowly.
At 6 now, Merlin has done a handful of horse shows. He comfortably courses about 3ft and I make an effort to take him off property and give him as much life experience as possible on a regular basis. His most recent event was Twin Rivers combined test where he won the dressage by 10 points followed by a clean show jumping taking home the blue! Merlin has been cross country schooling about 5 x now and has expressed zero hesitation with any type of obstacle including ditches, banks, water, baby strollers (long story), tables etc...everything he has schooled was BN/N level.
Merlin will try his heart out when it comes to jumping . He has NOT ONCE stopped at a single fence. (Yes, I just knocked on wood!) He is very brave and will take a joke and tell you a joke at the same time. He's a character what can I say! On a cold windy day after a day or two off Merlin will most certainly be wild and show off his Tb, but the great thing is you can always count on him working down. He is very predictable and is also very aware of who is on his back. He is not ready for a kid rider full time at this age, but will be one of those "perfect packers " with another year or two...
Merman has beautiful, smooth and very balanced gaits with a very soft mouth. Dressage judges love him! His lead changes are coming along nicely now, we are a bit late to the party on those (my bad!) So they still need some perfecting. He is currently working 5x per week. As far as future potential, I believe Merlin could compete to Training level eventing. He does not have the edge or gallop to be an upper level event horse. He needs to go win everything Training (or 3'6) and below with an amazing AA til he is too ancient to do that anymore and is then ready to tote some little kid around intro til he's 30.
Merdog lives in a paddock with his pimp daddy Clyde who keeps him in line. Merlin is a little socially awkward with other horses. He can be a bit like Napoleon Dynamite sometimes and no matter what Summer will not go to the prom with him! He is low on the todem pole in most situations. He would much rather hang with his two legged friends because our jackets have zippers! And those are fun to play with.
Merlin is best friend material. He is already picking out his BFF bridle charm that his future human will wear on a necklace with him. I cannot express how mandatory the PERFECT person for him is. I have turned down several interested parties that I knew would not be a fit and I have no problem holding out til it's right. Although mostly fabulous, he is still YOUNG and GREEN and would NOT be appropriate for a beginner or a timid rider. I am also not interested in selling him to a hunter/jumper program where he will be passed around and only handled by grooms. This horse deserves a real relationship. If I had a sugar daddy I would keep Merlin for the rest of his life. If he doesn't get a stocking at Christmas time I'm not sure I could sell him to you. Just sayin'...
I have a full set of X-Rays on him.
I don't allow trials, but will happily allow you to try him as many times as you see fit at his home as well as trailer him off site for a ride at another facility if you find that necessary.
